Football is unpredictable until the last minute. Same with the transfers, deadline days are always full of surprises. Clubs scramble for last-minute reinforcements and fans hold their breath.

As the summer window closes, here are five possible transfers on the deadline day.

1. Alexander Isak to Liverpool

Liverpool have had their eyes on Alexander Isak all summer. Although Newcastle have been reluctant to let go of their star striker, causing rifts among their fanbase.

Their recent signing of Nick Woltemade has slightly opened the door, and the Reds are ready to test Newcastle’s resolve with a possible bid of £130m. This would break the British transfer record, if it goes through.

Latest update: A vehicle passed through security at Liverpool’s training ground today. It is believed that Isak was in the vehicle.

2. Fermin López to Chelsea

Chelsea are pushing hard to bring Barcelona’s Fermin López to Stamford Bridge. The 20-year-old midfielder has impressed under Hansi Flick and the Spanish side has placed a €90m price tag on him.

However, some fans are questioning the logic because López operates in a similar role to Cole Palmer, and the two could clash for playing time.

Still, if Chelsea really want him, they have the resources to make it happen on deadline day.

3. Marc Guéhi to Liverpool

Liverpool are also targeting Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi, with personal terms reportedly agreed. The Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner has been vocal about keeping his captain, stating that his replacement will be hard to find. But with Marc Guéhi refusing to extend his contract, a departure looks increasingly likely.

Crystal Palace are already scouting reinforcements such as Jaydee Canvot (Toulouse), Ousmane Diomande (Sporting CP), Nathan Ake and Micheal Akanji (Manchester City), and Evan Ndicka (Roma).

If Crystal Palace can secure one or more of these covers, expect Marc Guéhi to make the switch by the deadline day.

4. Senne Lammens to Manchester United

Manchester United’s search for a reliable backup goalkeeper has led them to Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp. The 23-year-old Belgian has been on their radar for months, and personal terms are said to be in place.

The only stumbling block is a fee disagreement between the clubs. After a poor start to the season, including a shocking defeat to League Two side Grimsby, United may be forced to push this deal over the line.

5. Kobbie Mainoo’s Future

Academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo, once tipped as United’s future, is now considering an exit. After being dropped for the opening league games this season, the 20-year-old is reportedly frustrated with the limited chances he’s had.

Amorim insists he believes in the youngster, but he is fighting for the same place as Bruno Fernandes. So, an exit looks likely. Though his destination is unclear, he is looking for a team that is in the Champions League.
