The mid-week fixtures did not disappoint, starting with the South Coast clash between Brighton and Bournemouth where the Albion won their third consecutive home match for the first time since Septemeber 2023. Danny Welbeck scored the winner to end his 10-game goal drought.
Crystal Palace smashed Aston Villa 4-1 as birthday boy Ismaila Sarr bagged a brace. Fulham secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Wolves and Chelsea beat Southampton comfortably at Stamford Bridge.
On Wednesday Brentford were held to a 1-1 by Everton and Arsenal were forced to settle for a point in a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
Embed from Getty ImagesLiverpool took advantage and flew 13 points clear at the top of the table as they beat Newcastle 2-0 thanks to goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.
Harry Maguire scored the winner in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Ipswich. United were down to 10-man for most of the match as new full-back Patrick Dorgu was sent off in the first half.
Manchester City picked up three points in North London as Erling Haaland’s goal saw Pep Guardiola’s side win 1-0.
On Thursday, West Ham faced Leicester at home and won 2-0, Tomas Soucek broke the deadlock and Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard scored an own goal to help Graham Potter’s side to victory.
