Manchester United have sacked Ruben Amorim, following a meeting with Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada this morning, according to Sky Sports News.

Amorim, who was appointed as manager in November 2024, leaves United after managing 63 games. The sacking comes after Amorim’s explosive post-match press conference, where he made attacking comments on the club’s upper manangement.

Following United’s 1-1 draw against Leeds yesterday, Amorim said: “I came here to be the manager, not the coach…I will do my job for 18 months and then we move on.”

Former United midfielder Darren Fletcher is set to take charge on an interim basis and will lead the team against Burnley on Wednesday.

In a club statement, Manchester United said: “With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.”
