Jordan Pickford broke the record for the most consecutive clean sheets for England following a 3-0 victory over Wales last night at Wembley.
The Three Lions shot stopper kept a clean sheet for the eighth consecutive match and overtook previous record holder George Banks. The 31-year-old hasn’t conceded a goal in a year for England, he last conceded against Greece in a 2-1 Nations League defeat.
Since the Euro Final against Spain in 2023, England have played 13 matches with Pickford starting in 11 of them. He has conceded just two goals and kept 10 clean sheets overall. In the remaining two matches, Dean Henderson has started and conceded four goals.

He added: “Today there was a challenge for him because they [Wales] pressed us high… he kept his composure. He kept calm… so he did very well.”
Tuchel is yet to see Pickford concede since taking over in January 2025. It was the England manager’s sixth win in seven matches, thanks to early goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka.
World Cup winner, Banks, previously held the record until the 1966 World Cup quarter-final against Argentina. In the semi-final, Portugal’s Eusebio scored a penalty to end Banks’ impressive run.
England face Latvia on Tuesday night, where Pickford will be hoping to extend his record to nine matches.
