It’s no news that former Liverpool star and academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold has made the high-profile switch to Real Madrid, one of La Liga’s giants. Fans and pundits alike have been eager to see how he’s settling in at his new club, and there’s been plenty of whispers about his omission from the latest England squad.

Before leaving Liverpool, Trent was known for his exceptional passing range, vision, and attacking threat from right-back. But moving to Madrid comes with new challenges, adapting to a different league, a new system, and the pressure of living up to expectations at one of the world’s biggest clubs.

So far, Trent’s performances haven’t hit their peak, but that’s natural during an adjustment period. For the first time in his career, he’s away from his childhood club, playing in a new country, and under new scrutiny. A dip in form is almost inevitable.

Still, his arrival is a breath of fresh air for Real Madrid. With Dani Carvajal struggling for availability last season, the club often had to fill in with Lucas Vasquez and other makeshift options at right-back.

And then, Trent has already shown glimpses of his quality. His most recent game was nearly perfect, to show that he is finding his rhythm.

His England omission, then, feels more about timing than talent. A dip in form at the end of last season carried over into his Real Madrid debut, but as his performances improve, a recall seems likely. With the World Cup on the horizon, England may regret leaving him out if he rediscovers top form in Spain.

It’s also worth noting that Trent isn’t just adapting to a new club, he’s joining the Real Madrid side in transition. A new coach means fresh tactics, strategies, and expectations to the team and this could be tougher for a player mid-career.

Despite the bumps, there’s plenty of reason to hope. Trent’s skill set, work ethic, and big-game experience suggest he’ll eventually thrive in Real Madrid’s system.

But for now, patience is key. If the signs are right, both Real Madrid and England will reap the rewards of a fully adapted Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thomas Tuchel may soon be calling him back to the squad for the World Cup.
