Brighton manager Dario Vidosic said his side were “very reactive” in their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the Amex. I spoke with Vidosic after the match, here are the key lines from the press conference.
Liverpool got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Brighton in the WSL. First half goals from Olivia Smith and Leanne Kiernan were enough to earn Amber Whiteley’s side all three points.
Brighton went a goal down within 65 seconds, which frustrated Vidosic. He said: “We were very out of character, we made it a more difficult afternoon than what it should have been.”
In terms of Brighton’s reactivity and lack of tempo until the closing stages, Vidosic said: “At times we were too keen to score that equaliser and would just play long, straight passes.”
“We had a similar thing in Leicester where silly, simple mistakes put us in a hole. We have to learn from this situation.”
“The hole was a bit too big to dig ourselves out of.”

Kiko Seike surpringsly didn’t start but made a good impact off the bench. Vidosic said she didn’t start as she suffered a concussion in Japan.
He said: “She only joined us late in the week so we had to look after her a little bit but she was good. She created a threat and was positive, she’s one that we are excited about.”
Vidosic also revealed that Seike starting next week is “more than likely”. He said: “We have to take into account how she performs throughout the week but she’s put a good foot forward.”
