Liverpool manager Amber Whiteley encourages her team to “keep their foot on the gas” after their 2-1 victory over Brighton at the Amex. I spoke with Whiteley after the match, here are the key lines from the press conference.
Liverpool got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Brighton in the WSL. First half goals from Olivia Smith and Leanne Kiernan were enough to earn Amber Whiteley’s side all three points.
Star forward Olivia Smith came off injured before half time, leaving the pitch in crutches.
Whiteley said there are no news yet on that injury and that Smith will need to be assessed.
Smith is Liverpool’s top goalscorer this season with seven goals in 17 matches. Whiteley said: “Olivia is an important player for us, but we’ve got a brilliant squad.
“If we have to make changes, it’ll be absolutely no problem.”

Ceri Holland starred, assisting both goals for the visitors. Whiteley was pleased to have Holland back in the squad after missing the Chelsea game last week.
Whiteley said: “It was great to have Ceri back in the team, she had a huge impact on the game and did excellently for us today.”
