Liverpool got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Brighton in the WSL. First half goals from Olivia Smith and Leanne Kiernan were enough to earn Amber Whiteley’s side all three points.

Smith broke the deadlock within 65 seconds to score her seventh of the WSL season.

Ceri Holland claimed the assist with a brilliant cross field ball into Smith whose drilled strike beat Melina Loeck at the near post.

Liverpool doubled their advantage just before the interval thanks to an error from Maisie Symonds. The England international miscued her pass and it fell into the feet of Holland.

The Welsh winger thought quickly and fed the ball into Leanne Kiernan who finished from close range.

Nadine Noordam had a chance to equalise in the 25th minute but her curling effort was just wide of the post.

Dario Vidosic made some big changes in the second half and made three changes during the break. Substitute Kiko Seike in particular made a strong impact.

Agyemang pulled one back minutes after the restart. The loanee striker tucked away a simple finish past Laws to halve the deficit.

Seike brought some energy back into Vidasic’s side, she was the key creative outlet for the hosts in the second half. After assisting Agyemang’s goal, the Japanese midfielder chipped a pass into Fran Kirby whose volley sailed just wide.

Holland attempted to restore Liverpool’s two-goal advantage but was denied by another top save from Loeck.

Brighton increased the tempo in the final 10 minutes but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point. Brighton drop into sixth and remain on 22 points whilst Liverpool go fifth on 24 points.
