Brighton boss, Fabian Hurzeler, says his side’s FA Cup tie against Chelsea is “do or die” as they aim to bounce back from their recent 7-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Reflecting on the Forest defeat, Hurzeler said: “One game should not define our season… stay calm and trust the approach because we are on a good way.”

The Albion have struggled at home this season, they haven’t won at the Amex since their 2-1 win over Manchester City in November.

Ending that drought against Chelsea will be a big ask, the Seagulls have won just one of their last 11 home matches against the Blues.

Chelsea are favourites to progress; they have done so in 25 of their last 27 FA Cup fourth round matches. Their last defeat at this stage was in 2014/15 against Bradford City.

Brighton reached the fourth round by beating Norwich 4-0 at Carrow Road, whilst the Blues won 5-0 against Morecombe.

Nicolas Jackson suffered a hamstring injury against West Ham in the Premier League, but Enzo Maresca said it wasn’t a bad one. He said: “Nico is better and could be fit for the game.”

Carlos Baleba, Yasin Ayari and Pervis Estupinan all missed the Forest match, and all are “doubtful” but Hurzeler said “two out of three might play”.
