Morgan Rogers was controversially denied a last gasp winner against Juventus as Aston Villa were forced to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw.

Youri Tieleman’s free-kick floated into the box and Juventus goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, spilled the ball and Rogers smashed the it home.

However, VAR decided to rule out the goal as they deemed Diego Carlos’ collision with the Italian goalkeeper a foul.

Boos echoed around Villa Park as referee Jesus Gil Manzano blew the final whistle.

The hosts kept their third clean sheet in a row at home in the Champions League, becoming the first team in 25 years to do so.

It was a cagey affair, neither side managed to get a real foothold of the game, although the game did open up in the final 15 minutes.

The Bianconeri’s best opportunities came through Francisco Conceicao, who caused all kinds of issues for Villa’s defense down the right flank.

In the 65th minute, the 21-year-old forced an incredible stop from Emiliano Martinez.

Teun Koopmeiners’ corner bounced through to Conceicao at the back post and somehow Martinez got down to claw the ball off the line.

Five minutes later, John McGinn’s strike was blocked on the line by Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli.

Aston Villa are now on 10 points and are 9th in the Champions League, whilst Juventus are in 19th on eight points.

Next up, Villa face RB Leipzig away from home and for Juventus, they will take on Manchester City in Turin.
