Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler revealed Matt O’Riley and Joao Pedro have “a big chance” of returning from injury to feature against Manchester City.

O’Riley was highly sought after all summer, with clubs such as Atalanta and West Ham interested, but the Dane ultimately chose Brighton. The £25 million man suffered an injury just six minutes into his debut and has been recovering since the end of August.

Brighton have been without last season’s top goalscorer Pedro since late September due to an ankle injury sustained against Nottingham Forest.

The 23 year old has scored two goals in three Premier League starts this season, but left the Amex Stadium on crutches following a nasty challenge from Morgan Gibbs-White.

Club captain Lewis Dunk sustained a calf injury in the pre-match warm up before Brighton’s 2-2 draw with Wolves and was set to be out for three to four weeks.

Dunk was set to make his 250th Premier League appearance against Wolves, but has been forced to wait. He could reach the milestone against the league champions on Saturday if fit.

According to Hurzeler, both Dunk and Yankuba Minteh will be assessed closer to kick off.

In the Premier League, City’s 32-game unbeaten run came to an end at Bournemouth last time out. Hurzeler believes City remain “the best team in the world”

Brighton have never kept a clean sheet against Man City in 14 attempts and have only beaten them once, but Hurzeler still believes his side can cause an upset.

He said: “Everyone can beat everyone and we see it every weekend. That’s why we always see an opportunity. We always see a chance.”
