Unai Emery targets new heights in the Champions League as Aston Villa aim to win their third consecutive match in Europe for the first time since 1981.
Unai Emery said he wants his side to “break barriers” as they look to take a big step towards qualifying for the round of 16.
The Villains come into this match nine games unbeaten but have typically struggled against Italian sides in Europe, winning just two of their last six encounters.
Emery voiced his ambitions for Aston Villa’s future, he said: “I don’t want to waste my time here. That is the message for everyone.
“We want to achieve objectives and one of them is to play in the Champions League.
“We want to keep the level and add something like being a contender for a trophy.”

Italiano praised his opponents, he said: “They are a top level team but we will give it a go. We need substance in terms of points and victories.”
Bologna let a two-goal lead slip in Serie A last weekend against Genoa. They were forced to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw, meaning they have been without a win since September.
Bologna defender, Sam Beukema, said: “We need to stay more focused,” admitting his frustrations over the result.
However the Dutchman did assure fans that “positive results will come.”
