Real Madrid survived a wild night in Piraeus, at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, edging Olympiacos 4–3 in a match that swung violently from shock to inevitability and back to chaos.
Olympiacos delivered the first punch just eight minutes in, when Chiquinho finished off a sharp sequence to send Georgios Karaiskakis fans into a frenzy. For a moment, Real looked rattled until Kylian Mbappé decided the script needed rewriting.
The Frenchman equalised on 22 minutes, then, doubled his tally two minutes later, duly and completed a hat-trick just before the half-hour mark and right after the first match goalscorer, Chiquinho, was surprisingly subbed off.

But Olympiacos refused to fold. In the second half, the hosts clawed their way back into the match after the restart, pulling it to 2–3 with Mehdi Taremi’s header creating a tense finish, and the stadium vibrating with belief dragging the crowd back into full volume.
Real Madrid, though, found another gear; Mbappé struck again midway through the half to restore the cushion.
Still, Olympiacos made sure this wasn’t over. El Kaabi tried to raise the chances by scoring in the 81st minute. But Real held on, leaning on experience and game management to escape with all three points.
For Olympiacos, it was a performance of bravery and ambition. For Real Madrid, a display of individual brilliance and necessary grit on a difficult European night. A seven-goal thriller, and the Champions League at its chaotic best.
