In Elche, Spain continued their perfect start to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a calm 2–0 win over Georgia. It wasn’t flashy, but it was all about control. And that, Spain delivered.
Yeremy Pino opened the scoring in the 24th minute, reacting quickest in the box after Pedri’s corner caused confusion. Georgia’s resistance almost paid off when Ferran Torres missed a penalty before halftime. But, Spain never looked in danger.
The second half offered the game’s standout moment: Mikel Oyarzabal’s curling free kick that left Mamardashvili rooted. It was Spain at their most composed. Recycling possession, stretching Georgia’s shape, and picking their moments rather than forcing them.

Spain’s 80% possession told the story: this was dominance by design, not drama. Even with stars like Yamal and Rodri absent, De la Fuente’s side played with balance and belief.
For Georgia, goalkeeper Mamardashvili was a lone highlight, saving a penalty and several close-range efforts.
With three wins from three, Spain sit comfortably atop Group E, their place at the 2026 World Cup already looking inevitable.
