Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Daniel Levy has stepped down from his role as Executive Chairman after almost a quarter of a century in charge.

Levy, who took up the position in 2001, has overseen a transformative period in the club’s history, including the move into the state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the development of Hotspur Way training centre. Under his tenure, Spurs have featured in European competition in 18 of the past 20 seasons, establishing themselves among the continent’s elite and recently lifting the Europa League.

As part of long-term succession planning, Spurs have already reshaped their leadership structure. Vinai Venkatesham, formerly of Arsenal, was appointed Chief Executive Officer earlier this year, with Brentford’s Thomas Frank taking over as men’s head coach and Martin Ho named as women’s head coach. Peter Charrington, who recently joined the board, will now step into the new role of Non-Executive Chairman.

Levy said: “I am incredibly proud of the work I have done together with the executive team and all our employees. We have built this club into a global heavyweight competing at the highest level. More than that, we have built a community.”

Charrington added: “This is a new era of leadership for the club, on and off the pitch… We are now fully focused on stability and empowering our talented people across the Club, led by Vinai and his executive team.”

Tottenham confirmed there are no changes to the club’s ownership or shareholder structure.
