In what could be the move of the summer in the Championship, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed that the club has held talks with Danish superstar Christian Eriksen, but that the move had ‘not gone further’ than that.

The 33-year-old was released following the expiration of his contract at Manchester United, having featured 35 times last season. During his time at the Red Devils, he won both the FA and EFL Cups.

A widely decorated player, Eriksen has won league titles in the Netherlands and Italy, with Ajax and Inter Milan, respectively. He has also represented his country 144 times.

Since making his return to football, he has had spells with Brentford and Manchester United. Due to his cardiac arrest and subsequent ICD fitting, Eriksen may be limited to where his options for a new club lie. Due to regulations in Italian football, his contract at Inter was forced to be terminated.

It has been reported by Wales Online that Eriksen has opted against the move, with ambitions of remaining at the highest level of the game. However, as the season edges closer without the midfielder making a move, never say never.
