Brighton are forced to settle for a point as Leicester came back twice to dent the Albion’s European hopes. Joao Pedro scored twice from the spot but his goals were cancelled out in the 2-2 draw.

Brighton’s number nine broke the deadlock from 12 yards in the 31st minute after Conor Coady conceded a penalty for handballing Simon Adingra’s effort on goal.

Leicester goalkeeper, Mads Hermansen, attempted to put off Pedro with various mind games but the Albion striker kept his head and coolly rolled the ball into the bottom left corner.

Pedro scored his second from the spot in the 55th minute after Matt O’Riley was dragged down in the penalty area by Luke Thomas. The Brazilian went for the top right corner on that occasion and Hermansen couldn’t get near it.

It was Pedro’s 10th goal of the season, making it his best goalscoring season ever in the top flight.

Leicester quickly responded to Brighton’s first goal as Stephy Mavididi netted his fourth goal of the season. The English winger drilled a powerful shot towards goal from a tight angle but managed to squeeze it past Bart Verbruggen. It was the Foxes first goal since February against Manchester United.

Leicester punished Brighton again against the run of play as Caleb Okoli got on the end of Bilal El Khanouss’ delivery and headed into the bottom corner.

Brighton registered an xG of 4.04 and had seven big chances but were ultimately punished for their lack of ruthlessness in front of goal. Fabian Hurzeler’s side are now on 48 points in ninth position, five points away from a guaranteed European spot.
