Brighton manager, Fabian Hurzeler admitted in his post-match press conference that Brighton were the “lucky winners” in a thrilling encounter against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
He said: “That goal [Justin Kluivert’s equaliser] came out of nowhere, after that we had to suffer.”
Embed from Getty ImagesAndoni Iraola, Bournemouth manager, believed his side should have won the game. He said: “We played just as good, if not better than Brighton.”
Joao Pedro broke the deadlock inside 12 minutes from the spot, but Iraola felt the Brazilian made a meal out of the initial foul to win the penalty
Iraola said: “I think he [Pedro] forgets about going to score a goal and tries to buy the penalty”.
Brighton won their fourth consecutive match across all competitions thanks to an instant impact from substitute Danny Welbeck.
His left-footed strike trickled over the line to secure the victory for the hosts but Welbeck insisted he “wasn’t worried” about the ball going in.
He said: “I knew if I took the shot early it would catch the keeper off guard… it was a nice finish.”
Hurzeler remained tight-lipped about the Albion’s European aspirations, despite his side sitting just three points off the top four.
He said: “Let’s just wait until the next games.”
“I saw a team that wanted to attack together and defend together, that’s the key to this win.”
