What happened during match day 15?

Premier League action was supposed to begin at Goodison Park for the final Merseyside Derby at the historic stadium. However, due to weather conditions, the match was postponed.

So instead, the weekend begun at Villa Park as Unai Emery’s side earned back-to-back victories with a 1-0 win against Southampton.

Brentford smashed Newcastle 4-2 as their imperious form at home continued. Man City had another slip up despite a mid-week win, they drew 2-2 to Crystal Palace.

Man United suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest. Goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes weren’t enough to stop Nuno Espirito Santos’ side.

On Sunday, both Arsenal and Brighton dropped points in games they really should have won. Leicester’s late comeback against the Seagulls meant Ruud van Nistelrooy’s good start continued. For Arsenal, they couldn’t get ahead against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Chelsea capitilised on Arsenal’s dropped points later that afternoon as they beat Tottenham 4-3 despite going 2-0 down inside 10 minutes. They remain second with 31 points, two ahead of Arsenal and four behind leaders Liverpool.

Bournemouth beat Ipswich 2-1 in a late comeback. Goals from Enes Unal and Dango Ouattara saw the Cherries fly into eighth position just three points off Man City in fourth.

Finally, on Monday night, Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham piled the pressure on Gary O’Neil as they beat Wolves 2-1. Both West Ham goalscorers paid tribute to Michael Antonio who was recently hospitalised due to a road traffic accident in which he broke his leg.

What did we learn?

A historic win for Forest – A win at Old Trafford is still a big deal, even though Man United have dipped over the past few years.

For Forest, it’s an even bigger deal than usual, as it was their first victory there since 1994. The 30 year wait for a win at the Theatre of Dreams also saw Chris Wood become the clubs record Premier League goalscorer.

Duran staked his claim – After 14 games without a start, Unai Emery finally gave Jhon Duran the nod in the Premier League, and he did not disappoint.

The Colombian scored the 24th minute with a left-footed finish past Joe Lumley to win the game for the Villains.

Emery said he would love to play both Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran for their upcoming games in the Champions League and Premier League, however he said the “tactical balance is most important”.

Palmer panenka sets Premier League record – Cole Palmer made history from the spot against Tottenham, setting a Premier League record for the most penalties taken without ever missing.

That delightful Panenka took Palmer to 12 from 12, and took him past former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré, who converted 11/11 of his penalties in his Premier League career.

Moment of match day 15:

This week, the best moment came during West Ham’s 2-1 victory over Wolves.

After the terrible news coming out about Michael Antonio’s car accident, his teammates paid tribute by wearing his shirt for the warm-up.

During the match, both Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen celebrated their goals by once again paying tribute to Antonio.

Soucek showed nine fingers to represent Antonio’s shirt number, and Bowen lifted Antonio’s shirt and showed it to the home fans.

West Ham went on to win the game in a vital bottom of the table clash against Wolves.
