Aston Villa defender, Tyrone Mings admitted he was “fuming” after his side’s 3-1 win over Brentford.

The Villains ended their eight game winless run as Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Matty Cash scored inside 34 minutes. Mikkel Damsgaard pulled one back for the Bees but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback at Villa Park.

Mings made his return to Premier League action for the first time in over a year and won the Player of the Match award.

However, he was far from happy about conceding in the second half.

He said: “I’m absolutely fuming we didn’t keep the clean sheet. There is definitely more we could have done tonight.”

Villa boss, Unai Emery, was also disappointed with Brentford’s goal. He said: “I am not happy that we did not keep a clean sheet today but we got some confidence [that] we needed.”

Emery praised Mings for defending “very well”. However, the Spaniard had one critisicm of the Englishman’s performance.

Emery said: “He had chances to score, I’m very demanding of him from set pieces.”

Overall, Emery was pleased with the victory as “everything more or less went to plan”.

The win saw Villa go seventh on 22 points, they face Southampton next.
