Belgian midfielder Tielemans said: “The manager is really onto us, he wants us to keep pushing the bar.”
Villa boss, Unai Emery, heaped praised on his side for their “serious, focused and mature” performance.
Emery took over two years ago when Villa were hovering above the relegation zone and now they are top of the Champions League.
“I think today was fantastic, playing really brilliant,” said Emery.
McGinn broke the deadlock in the 55th minute from a set piece. He said: “It has been really good. We are ready to keep going.
“We have another few tough games but this puts us in a great position.”
Jhon Duran doubled the lead but was immediately substituted for Ollie Watkins, which lead to a very animated reaction from the Colombian.
Tielemans played down Duran’s antics, he said: “The manager does not care, he knows everyone wants to play and it is part of the game”
