The countdown to deadline day has begun as we enter August and some top deals have already been completed in the Premier League, however there are still plenty of rumours circulating. Let’s take a look at the top five rumours and assess whether they would be good moves for the player and club.
Aaron Ramsdale to Nottingham Forest: HIT
Ramsdale lost his starting spot in net for Arsenal last season when David Raya joined on loan from Brentford. The move recently became permanent, putting a nail in the coffin of Ramsdale’s Arsenal career.
The English shot-stopper is still a fantastic goalkeeper though and would flourish in any Premier League side. Nottingham Forest are preparing to bid for Ramsdale, although they aren’t willing to meet Arsenal’s £50m valuation. If they can get the price down then this could be a brilliant deal and a chance for Ramsdale to reignite his career.

Gordon has been linked with a move to the Reds for some time now, with most recent reports suggesting the move would be worth around £75m.
Newcastle are currently in talks with Gordon over a new contract to ward off Liverpool’s interest despite previously offering them the winger for £100m.
Gordon scored 11 goals alongside 10 assists last season for Newcastle and is more than ready for a move to one of Europe’s elite. He would no doubt live up to the hefty price tag, therefore I think this would be a great move for both parties.

In 2019, Felix became Atletico Madrid’s record signing, costing the club £113m. Fast forward five years and he’s had fairly unsuccessful loan spells at both Chelsea and Barcelona.
Aston Villa are keen on bringing the Portuguese forward in to boost depth in their squad as they prepare for Champions League football. They are linked with players who I believe would make more of an impact such as Crystal Palace’s Jean-Phillippe Mateta and should therefore not go for Felix.

Everton have submitted a £25m bid for former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham. Both Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had poor seasons in 2023/24 and the Toffees are now desperate to add a reliable forward to their squad.
The 26 year old has made 328 career appearances, scoring 127 goals, highlighting his proficiency at finding the back of the net. West Ham were reportedly also interested but are close to confirming the signing of Niclas Fullkrug, putting Everton in a great position to get this move done.

Reports in Spain have suggested Arsenal are preparing a £50million bid for Raphinha, who has found himself out of favour in the Barcelona side. Although Raphinha is talented, he would like find himself low in the pecking order at the Emirates too, with wingers such as Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard all ahead of him.
It’s too much money for Raphinha despite Barcelona wanting more, Arsenal should give this one a miss in my opinion.
