Euro 2024 kicks off this Friday in Germany and one of football’s all-time greats could break a handful of records. Cristiano Ronaldo was just 19 when he made his Euro debut in 2004, 20 years later he’s about to feature in his sixth Euro campaign for Portugal.

Ronaldo holds plenty of attacking records at the European Championships including all-time top goalscorer, most appearences and most goal attempts. However he is yet to create the most chances, trailing by one to fellow Portuguese legend Luis Figo (42). Kevin De Bruyne (36) will pressure Ronaldo (41) this summer though, the Belgian currently sits in joint 6th place alongside Cesc Fabregas and Deco.

Ronaldo does already have the most assists but isn’t alone in the top spot. Former Manchester United winger Karel Poborsky is currently sharing the record for most assists with six each. Ronaldo can become the outright top assister this summer by setting up a teammate once more. Although, once again, De Bruyne is hunting down the top spot too, he is currently on five assists in the European Championships .

Even at 39 years of age, Ronaldo isn’t the oldest player in the Portugal squad; 41 year old defender and former teammate Pepe is. Providing Pepe fails to score in this years Euros, Ronaldo could become the tournaments oldest ever scorer. The record is currently held by Austria’s Ivica Vastic who was 38 years, 257 days old when he scored in a 1-1 draw against Poland in 2008.

Ronaldo has won the Man of the Match award six times in the European Championships throughout his career and is level with Spanish midfielder Andreas Iniesta. The Portugal captain could become the outright winner for this category if he receives one more in Germany.
