Despite getting the Red Devils to a cup final, it’s been a below-par season overall. Man United finished the league in their lowest ever position, eighth, 31 points behind Man City.

Thomas Tuchel is the front-runner to take Ten Hag’s job if he is sacked, Tuchel is a free agent following his departure from Bayern Munich. Tuchel had a successful reign in England as Chelsea manager, winning them the Champions League in 2021.

United have been linked with various other manager’s to replace the Dutchman including Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, and ex-Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettinho.

Ten Hag led United to a third place finish in the league, a FA Cup final and a Carabao Cup title in his debut season, but this year there has been a notable drop off.

Since the reports have been released, Ten Hag has responded to claims that he will be dismissed from his duties at Old Trafford. He said: “I have nothing to say, I am just focusing on the job I have to do on Saturday.”
